The 2018 Ontario 55+ Summer Games is kicking-off next week and the annual event is not one you’ll want to miss.

The 55+ Summer Games is exactly what it sounds like; a series of athletic events for those aged 55+ and over. It’s always a great time and an opportunity for some of Ontario’s finest to show that getting old is nothing to fear. The Summer Games is celebrating its 32nd year and it just gets bigger; last year we had over 1000 participants!

The event’s opening ceremony takes place on Friday August 10th, from 6-9 PM. The 2018 Games comes to Celebration Square “featuring an athlete parade, an official ceremony, performances by local artists and more. Come early and participate in games, activities and entertainment, as it will make sure to excite and inspire!” As per the official website.

Some of the games at the event include:

  • Billiards
  • Bowling (Five Pin, Carpet & Lawn)
  • Bocce
  • Card Games
  • Cycling
  • Darts
  • Floor Shuffle Board
  • Golf
  • Swimming
  • Tennis

Even for those under the age of 55 can be a part of this event as a volunteer, but you have to be at least 16 years of age to do so. Head to this link to register as a volunteer and help out! The Opening Ceremony at Celebration Square will take place on August 10, 2018, and a Middle Entertainment Night will occur on Aug. 11 at Port Credit’s Memorial Park. So come to the Square next Friday for a fun evening of entertainment and games, supporting the inspirational folk that put the rest of us to shame!
