Now that the nicer weather has arrived, many aspects of construction at Westwood Square are in their final phase.
Both the new Shoppers Drug Mart and LCBO locations will be provided to each retailer on June 1st, allowing them to build the interior layout of the stores. Both locations are scheduled to open to the public before Labor Day. Currently, the parking areas for these two stores are being replaced with new asphalt. A new sidewalk will also be constructed in front of the stores, running from Gino’s Pizza to Freshco.
Work is also ongoing on the Freshco renovation and expansion. The newly renovated and expanded Freshco is scheduled to open in fall 2017.
The Landlord has provided vacant possession to Wellfort Medical Clinic to commence their work for the new 11,000 square foot medical clinic, to be located in the former food court space. The medical centre is scheduled to be open by the end of 2017.
Development has now commenced on the interior renovation of the shopping centre. All of the demising caps, which separate the retail stores are being updated. Work has begun on installing new floor tile throughout the mall, which has meant eliminated the outdated fountain and tile planters. The bulkheads above each store will be repainted accompanied by upgraded lighting and ceiling work.
Finally, the mall is opening a new public entrance, which will be located beside the future home of Shoppers Drug Mart. This new entrance is required due to the elimination of the former mall entrance beside Freshco. Work is also continuing on a new set of public washrooms, scheduled to be opened by the end of June. These washrooms are located beside the current LCBO location.
