We talk a lot about real estate here at YourSauga, and we often mention how preposterous the housing market currently is. That’s why anytime we hear about new housing coming to the city we get excited, especially when those new developments are promising more affordable options.
And, as you’ve gleaned from the headline, that’s why we’re here today. There’s a new condo project that has been announced as coming to the crossroads at Hurontario Street and Bristol Road. If you live near the area or drive past it on a regular basis, you’ve likely already noticed the construction site that has been brewing at said spot, well now you know what’s coming.
Boardwalk and RioCan, two development companies, announced the project just a week ago and it is currently seeking zoning approval. Regardless, those are mere formalities and you can see an artist rendition below of what the condo will actually look like when completed.
The development will consist of two apartment buildings, one of 25 storeys and the other of 16, culminating in 470 rental units. Perhaps most interestingly about this new apartment complex, is the large amount of retail space that is also planned. Meaning you could expect dozens of stores to be located on the ground floor, and you’d never have to leave your home!
“We’re really excited about this new development in Mississauga,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Boardwalk REIT, Sam Kolias. “This is all about our long-term strategy to reduce the average age of our rental properties and to diversify our portfolio on a balanced, measured basis.”
This new condo is very exciting but it is going to take a while to actually open for commercial use; the current estimated opening date is 2023. Of course, that means the building will be opening a few months after the expected debut of the Hurontario LRT. So start saving your cents and be amongst the first to snag a condo in this amazing new development before prices go through the roof. This one is sure to be one of the most sough after spaces in the entire city.
