“It’s the most wonderful time of the year!”
Christmas is right around the corner (don’t panic), and one of the best ways to kick-off the Christmas season is the annual Streetsville Santa Parade! This year’s event takes-off on Sunday November 25, from 1:00 PM until 1:30 PM.
The parade will run the route of Queen Street South, starting at Ontario Street and ending at Church Street, with over 30 floats expected for this year’s show!
The real reason this news is so exciting, is because last year the parade didn’t take place. Last year the Streetsville Business Improvement Association (BIA) made the decision to cancel the parade and allocate its resources to the Christmas in the Village market instead. Now, George Carlson, councillor for Ward 11, and a group local volunteers will restore the parade to its former glory!
This is no small piece of news though, because the Santa Parade has been a staple of Streetsville since 1974! Last year’s cancellation was met with plenty of disappointment from the local community, which was the impetus for this year’s revival.
Sadly, there’s no guarantee that it will be around next year, given the cost of operating the parade. So if you want to ensure the Santa Clause Parade remains a fixture of Streetsville for many years to come, so that your children (and theirs) can witness it, make sure you come out this year and cheer loudly!
The Santa Claus Parade in Streetsville takes place on Sunday, November 25th, at 1 PM, and it’s free for all! So come start your Christmas season in style and relive a classic!
