Today, the Streetsville Lions Club presented a cheque to represent their final installment of a $100K donation to the Vic Johnston Community Centre in Streetsville. The ceremony took place during the Streetsville Hockey League’s annual Day of Champions games.
The Streetsville Lions Club received their charter in 1952 and have been serving the community, raising monies and donating to various charity organizations. They have been a proud sponsor & supporter of the Streetsville Arena / Vic Johnston Community Centre since it’s opening in 1961. In addition to sponsoring sports teams they have established a scholarship fund to aid youth hockey players with registration fees to participate in the Streetsville Hockey League.
The Streetsville Lions currently have over 30 members and raise money through the Bread and Honey Festival, E-Gaming at Rama Mississauga, Streetsville Farmers Market, and Christmas in the Village to name a few. Some of the organizations they donate to are: Trillium Health Centre, Erin Oak Kids, Eden Food for Change, Camp Dorset (dialysis patients), Camp Trillium (cancer patients), Camp Lake Joseph (visually impaired), Camp Kirk (attention deficit), VON, PLASP, and many others.
Their motto “We Serve” remains front and center in all of volunteer efforts throughout the community.
