A unique type of music festival is happening this weekend in Mississauga, and it’s sure to be a thrilling one!
Unless you live in a cave, you’ll have noticed the plethora of events that have been occurring all over Mississauga these past few months. We’ve had the Bollywood Festival, the Latin Festival, and the Philippine Festival, to name a few. Those events are all fantastic celebrations of a specific country’s culture. An event happening this weekend is about a whole different type of culture.
Rock The Coliseum returns to Mississauga for the 12th year in a row! The event is Mississauga’s longest-running, free indie music festival. Yes that’s right, FREE!
Produced by Canadian Community Arts Initiative, RTC is a not-for-profit organization based in Ontario. RTC is a celebration of everything positive about the local music community & supports all genres of independent Canadian music.
So what kind of music happens at Rock The Coliseum? Well if the name and picture above aren’t a dead giveaway, it’s primarily a rock music festival. That said, it also features some country stars including Alessia Cohle and David Boyd Janes, as well as a few hip-hop artists. The rest of the music is all about hard rock, punk, progressive rock, indie, and even a classic rock ‘n roll group called Dreamboats.
One of the key artists at this year’s festival is DJ Care Failure, which is a lady who has opened for the likes of Guns ‘N Roses, Marilyn Manson, Sum 41 and Deftones. She’s also an award winning artist, so you can expect her to bring the house down. Head to the official website to see the entire list of performers.
The event organisers are promising a new experience this year, as they’ve given the event a face-lift. So if you’re looking for something a little different this weekend, or you’re a fan of rock music, head to Celebration Square on August 3-4 and rock on!
