We’re midway through the week again and that means it is time to reveal the free movie of the weekend.
The Rotary Club is back in Port Credit’s J.C. Saddington Park for another night of free movies. Last week’s movie was The Lego Movie Part 2 and it was a fun time had by all. And this coming Friday will be no different, but we’re in for something a little different.
You see, on Friday August 9th, The Rotary Club of Mississauga brings us a true classic in the form of Star Wars! And not just any Star Wars movie, but the original. Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, as it’s known nowadays. If you’re unfamiliar with the very first Star Wars movie, check out the very first trailer below:
Star Wars: A New Hope was the movie that started everything. It quickly became the highest-grossing movie of all-time – overtaking Jaws – and literally changed cinema forever. The movie sees a young man get dragged into an intergalactic war by two droids, unaware of how important he is in the grand scheme. It featured ground-breaking special effects, charming characters, memorable dialogue, and one of the all-time great villains in the form of Darth Vader.
It’s a classic if there ever was one and stars Hollywood legends like Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, James Earl Jones, and more. So if you want to rewatch one of the all-time great movies, or introduce your kids to it for the first time, then come to Port Credit’s J.C. Saddington Park this Friday night at sundown.
As always, the movie is free for everyone and you should come early to ensure a good seat. Just remember to bring a few fold-able chairs or a blanket to sit on, and buy some popcorn to support The Rotary Club. See you there!
