Canada Day is going to be a very memorable day in Port Credit and everyone is invited to join in the festivities. The day kicks off on Sunday at 11 am with the Hazel McCallion Canada Day Parade, starting at Stavebank Road and Lakeshore Road, and finishing at Seneca Avenue. The parade consists of over 50 floats, community groups, and bands, and is a great way to start proceedings and get spirits high.

Following the parade, La Villa Bakery will present a huge Canadian flag cake, accompanied by local musicians, and the National Anthem will be sung. Hazel McCallion, Former Mayor, will then lead the cutting of the cake ceremony and thousands of slices will be served to the community. There should be more than enough cake to go around!

Memorial Park, in the heart of Port Credit, will serve as the epicentre of the entertainment throughout the day. From 1 pm until 10 pm, various musicians will take to the main stage to perform all styles of music, from 80’s pop to Motown funk, for thousands of Canadians. There will also be a kids’ stage, on which there will be entertainment for children all day. As well as music, there will be an array of vendors throughout Memorial Park for everyone to shop and eat as they enjoy the music. The park will be licenced for drinks too. Attendance in Memorial Park will be free for everyone, and the park is wheelchair accessible.

Of course, no festivities are complete without an encore, that will see everyone in the entire town sing a chorus of the National Anthem before the sky bursts to life with a display of fireworks. This endcap to the day will take place shortly after 10 pm and is, of course, free for everyone.
