If you’ve been following yourSauga for the past year, you’ll know that we’re always excited when new vegan and vegetarian food options come to the city. Whether that’s in the form of a new restaurant, a new menu for an existing restaurant, or new options on our store shelves, we’re always happy to spread the word because we know how hard it can be to find quality options.
Last year, Mississauga became home to the most popular ice cream in America, Halo Top. This new brand of ice cream took the U.S by storm, overtaking Ben & Jerry’s and Häagen-Dazs to become the number one brand in the country. It then made its way north and has wowed Canada as well.
If you’re not familiar with Halo Top Ice Cream, it’s basically gluten-free, high-protein ice cream that’s incredibly low in calories. For example, a tub of their Birthday Cake ice cream contains 280 calories and 20g of protein. For context, Ben & Jerry’s Birthday Cake equivalent contains 1175 calories. You’ll immediately notice the difference with Halo Top when you pick up a pint and realise how incredibly light it is.
Well, things are about to get even better for health-conscious people and Halo Top lovers; the brand has introduced a plethora of dairy-free flavours! These new vegan friendly ice cream options are available as we speak, so run out to your nearest Metro or Loblaws and see if they have any left!
Halo Top’s standard line of flavours were quite varied but, considering how genuinely healthy they are, I for one was surprised by how genuinely tasty they were. And you don’t feel bad after eating them whatsoever. So this new line of dairy-free flavours is an even healthier option and a perfect one for vegans and vegetarians who has been longing for some good ice cream. The new vegan-friendly flavours include:
Chocolate Almond Crunch
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
Chocolate Covered Banana
Pancakes & Waffles
Peanut Butter Cup
Sea Salt Caramel
So if you’ve got a sweet tooth and you want to satisfy it with some ice cream, try Halo Top’s new line of flavours. There’s a reason why Halo Top overtook all other brands to become the number one ice cream around, and this is just another feather in the cap, or should I say spoon in the cup?
