Last week we brought you the news that Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy was filmed here in Mississauga. That show has been a big hit for the streaming service, and it’s no surprise that more and more shows and movies are being filmed in the GTA. As we speak (or type in this case), a new Netflix show is filming in Mississauga and surrounding areas.
The show is called Spinning Out and will feature numerous name actors and actresses. It has been seen filming around Mississauga, including in Wally’s Restaurant at 3480 Hurontario Street. Here is the official synopsis for the show:
“Spinning Out” follows “Kat Baker, an up-and-coming, high-level single skater who’s about to turn in her skates after a disastrous fall took her off the competition track. When Kat seizes an opportunity to continue her career as a pair skater with a talented bad-boy partner, she risks exposing a fiercely kept secret that could unravel her entire life. On and off the ice, Kat and her new partner will face daunting odds, injury to body and soul, financial sacrifice, and even potential mental breakdown on their way to realizing their Olympic dream.”
Spinning Out will star Kaya Scodelaro, who first appeared in a popular British teen drama, Skins, before getting her breakout role in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. The show will also feature January Jones (The Last Man On Earth), Evan Roderick (Arrow), and Willow Shields (The Hunger Games).
It’s set to be a 10 episode series that will debut on Netflix this year. When the show does drop, keep your eyes peeled for Mississauga locales throughout, and be sure to let us know if you spot any!
