We always like to celebrate and spotlight events that happen in Mississauga throughout the year. Whether it’s the big ones like BuskerFest and Canada Day, or smaller ones like Arts on the Credit and the Summer Concert Series.

Today, however, we’re highlighting one of the biggest and most iconic that take place here in the city: the TD Mosaic 2019. Better known as the South Asian Festival, the event is in its 14th year and promises 2019 will be the biggest and best yet! You can read the official description below:

The award winning festival of Mississauga is celebrating its 14th year by bringing to you the best of art, culture and cuisine from South Asia. The two day free festival will feature music, dance, folklore, Bollywood, food and shopping in the heart of Mississauga headlined by the popular artists and performers from India, Pakistan, Canada and USA. Children can enjoy free arts and craft workshops and learn to use the pottery wheel. This year’s festival will present a film segment MISAFF featuring South Asian cinema in a local theatre. A special appearance by big Bollywood star also awaits you. In the past Mosaic has presented heavyweights such as Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan, Rekha Bhardwaj, Benny Dayal, Karsh Kale, Kailash Kher, Richa Sharma and Alaap to name a few.

Mississauga South Asian Festival

As stated above, the South Asian Festival will feature a plethora of amazing entertainment, including music and dancing from 14 artists. There will also be craft workshops, pottery classes, a rising star talent competition, face painting, henna painting, and lots of activities for kids.

Everyone is welcome to come to the South Asian Festival of 2019. It’s happening at Celebration Square in the city centre on August 9th, from 6 PM to 11 PM. It’s a great event to immerse yourself in Asian culture, hear some fun music, dance, and to learn something. So bring the whole family for an evening of fun and it’s free for everyone!
