Believe it or not, it’s once again time to Light Up The Square! The annual tree-lighting ceremony at Mississauga Celebration Square is back for Christmas 2019 and if that’s not exciting, we don’t know what is!

Get in the Christmas spirit on November 23rd, as the city brings the season to life. Members of the Mississauga Council will be present to say a few words before the illumination, and the event is a must-attend for all families and couples.

Let it Glow at Celebration Square as we kick-off the winter season on November 23. It’s time to lace up your skates and hit the ice for the official opening of the rink, and celebrate the wonder of the holiday season as we illuminate the Square with the Christmas Tree Lighting with Members of Mississauga Council.

Of course, the tree lighting ceremony is only one small facet of the event. Light Up The Square 2019 will also feature live music of the Motown variety with a Christmas spin, light-up musical bikes, free skating, LED swings, a pop-up planetarium, a Frozen-themed photo stop, gourmet food trucks, an 8ft LED wall, Geodomes to stay warm, and Santa himself will be sitting in his cabin for photo opportunities!

So clearly there will be no shortage of ways to pass the time and it’s these kinds of events that create memories for the whole family. If Light Up The Square isn’t already an annual tradition for you and your loved ones, then it should be, starting this year.

This year’s Light Up The Square will be hosted by Global News Anchor Farah Nasser, and Celebration Square Emcee’s Mariah and Selena Jasmine. The event kicks off at 5 PM and runs until 9 PM, and is, as always, free for the entire family to attend. So come kick-off the Christmas season the best way possible!
