Race Against Racism celebrates its 18th year in operation, this Saturday, on June 16th.

The event is sponsored, as always, by the Peel Region Police and kicks-off at 8:45 AM at the Mississauga Community Centre. The Race Against Racism is a 5K walk/run/stroller roll to raise awareness that racism is still a pertinent issue, and a great way to help children understand these extremely complex matters. Needless to say, Race Against Racism is an event for everyone, and a particularly great event for families, with countless mothers participating each year with their strollers.

The Mississauga Community Centre is located at 1275 Mississauga Valley Boulevard, and everyone is encouraged to meet there at 8:45 AM for registration, while the race itself actually begins at 10:00 AM. There is parking available at the event and there will be a t-shirt and race kit given to the first 500 pre-registered participants. So how do you pre-register I hear you ask? Well head over to the Peel Region Police website, and click the Application Form PDF link near the bottom of the page.

Alternatively, entry forms can be found at any Peel Region Police station. If you have any questions regarding the race, feel free to contact one of three Peel Constables:

Cst. Wayne Moore #1661
905-453-2121 Ext-3611

Cst. Karen McNeilly #1781
905-453-2121 Ext-3612

Cst. Tony Tai #2923
905-453-2121 Ext-3613

The race will be concluded at 2:00 PM and remember, it’s not about finishing before anybody else, it’s about raising awareness and supporting a great cause. So come on out to the Mississauga Community Centre, bring your significant other, children, friends, family, whoever you desire and join the 2018 Race Against Racism!
