We’ve been saying for weeks now that summer is all about soaking in the sun, enjoying some good food and drinks, and going to the myriad festivals around Mississauga. Well, most of those festivals take place at Celebration Square, or Port Credit. So it’s always a nice treat when we get to head somewhere else for the day.
On Saturday August 4th, from 11 AM to 10 PM, Lakeside Park in Clarkson will host the CanJam Festival 2018. This will mark the second year of the Festival, which celebrates Canadian/Jamaican music and culture. As you may have guessed, it’s a fairly unique event. Check out the hype video for this year’s festival below:
The CanJam Festival is primarily about music, and the festival not only showcases awesome musicians, but it also gives you the chance to partake. That’s right, if you fancy yourself to be musically gifted, you can come to the CanJam Festival and either play a DJ set, or take part in the Sauga’s Got Talent competition! There’s been no word on what the prize for winning is but the official site describes it as “big”. If you’re interested in either event, check out this link for more details.
It’s not all music however, there will also be authentic Caribbean and Canadian cuisine, craft vendors, create your own CanJam bracelet, face painting for the kids, interactive games, inflatables, and more. It’s a fun day for the entire family.
The CanJam Festival 2018 is a free event for all. There will be parking available and you can find Lakeside park at 2268 Lakeshore Road West. Come celebrate Jamaican culture on August 4th in Clarkson!
