With the arrival of more pleasant temperatures and sunshine, Port Credit is bound to see its annual resurgence in outdoor population.  Folks shrug off their winter parkas and reappear for walks along the Lakeshore, visitors return for the myriad events scheduled in the area.

Part of these perambulations should include a visit to 106A Lakeshore (on the north side just west of Hurontario) where Hickox Jewellers has been providing attractive pieces to generations of customers since 1951.  Featuring a wide range of rings, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings, the store is bright and inviting.

On entering, you’re likely to meet, either, owner, Lori Galli, or Ashley Mitobe, both of whom are well-versed in the current styles and trends.  Whether it is for a straightforward engagement ring and wedding band pair or the perfect avant-guard coloured stone accessory to compliment a formal ensemble or casual outfit they have a broad selection of designers, including many Canadians.

Galli advised that customised designs are becoming more popular as people want to make a personal statement in the final piece and include their own context and personal meaning, which they can arrange.  They also provide cleaning and repair services and will even purchase your disused or estate jewellery if you’re looking to update your inventory.

After discussing your needs, they will also show you the clothing that is available.  Clothing you say, in a jewellery store?  This is part of their new partnership with FashionTruck Canada, owned by Ashley Mitobe.  It is the pop-up location for the (usually) mobile clothing store which brings the shopping experience to the customer.

The concept is a something like a cross between a Tupperware party/book club and a food truck.  An organiser invites a group of women (min.15), puts out some canapes and wine, and arranges for the truck packed with clothing of a range of styles and sizes to come to their driveway where the group shopping can commence.  The partnership with Hickox means that clients can instead come to the store, try on some new clothes, and match them with, for example, the perfect earrings.  The store location can also be used for after-hours shopping parties and simply requires pre-arranging.

So, for those who enjoy finishing their ensemble with just the right hint of sparkle or bling, those needing to make a pre-proposal purchase, or those seeking the latest in fashion, an enjoyable stroll will undoubted benefit from a stop in at Hickox Jewellers and the FashionTruck Canada boutique.
