Children love splashing around in water, whether it is at playing at a water table or splash pad, running through a sprinkler or swimming in a pool! No matter your child’s age, or the type of water experience they enjoy engaging in, make a point to participate in all the action! Show your children that you are interested in their water play and want to share in the enjoyable experience of splashing around with him!
Nature Discovery Walks
Go on a nature discovery walk through one of the city’s scenic parks or trails! Mississauga’s top parks and trails include: Culham Trail, The Waterfront Trail, Lake Aquitaine Trail, and Burhamthorpe Trail. Nature walks are both enjoyable and an educational experience for your children. You will be delighted at how invigorating it is to roam through the wilderness on a warm, sunny day and experience the sights and sounds of nature. Your kids will be in awe of their surroundings. Encourage them to curiously explore the world around them by letting them lead the way and set the pace for the walk. Challenge your children by having a scavenger hunt to look for certain nature items. They can also keep a nature journal to record and sketch their findings!
A family picnic is a great way to bond with your family, enjoy a healthy meal together, as well as get some fresh air and exercise! Plan to hold a family picnic with your extended family or close group of friends! The summer is the perfect occasion to make up for lost time with loved ones. Remember to pack a healthy lunch, along with snacks, fresh fruit and lemonade. At the park there is lots of room for your children to run around and play some games and sports. Enlist your children to help you prepare for the picnic by having them choose and prepare foods they like, and pack items they want to bring along, such as sporting equipment. A family picnic is a memory your children will cherish for years to come!
Help ensure your children have a healthy connection with the outdoors by providing them with various outdoor experiences throughout the summer months!
