What better way to deal with the humidity and commemorate a good summer day than with some ice cream? We all love the stuff and it’s easy to find good ice cream, but it’s not quite so easy to find a place that offers more.
We’ve compiled a quick list of the very best ice cream options in all of Mississauga, as well as some gelato! There’s options here for everyone, throughout Mississauga, so prepare to get hungry and grab a local cone of deliciousness!
Port Credit is a very popular destination for Saugians throughout the summer months, and when they flock to the small town, they flock to Scoops.
Seriously, go to Scoops on a hot summer day and be prepared to join a queue. That being said, the girls that work there are very fast and friendly, so you’ll never be waiting longer than 10 minutes. Not to mention, their abundance of flavours are more than worth the wait. I recommend the birthday cake flavour, salted caramel, or banana!
Murphy’s Ice Cream Parlour
Murphy’s Ice Cream Parlour in Streetsville is another very popular destination, located within the village square.
Murphy’s is a beautiful old-timey building that serves many different flavours of fresh soft or hard ice cream, milkshakes, slushies, real fruit yogurt, and even custom-made cakes. A perfect place to stop on a day out.
Dairy King is a seasonal store on Lakeshore that is always packed with customers.
Dairy King is renowned for their huge variety of hard and soft serve ice cream, as well as sundaes, frozen yogurt, protein shakes, and banana splits. As if that wasn’t enough, they also serve some hot food as well as waffles and crepes, all at very reasonable prices. Dairy King calls itself the very best ice cream in Mississauga, and it’s hard to argue.
Wow Wow Yum Yum
Wow Wow Yum Yum is the only Thai ice cream store in Mississauga and it really is like nothing you’ve ever tried before.
All the ice cream is made by hand and the speciality is ice cream rolls: ice cream that has been fried! Yes that’s a real thing and it isn’t gross like it sounds, it’s incredible. The ice cream comes rolled up like a crepe, usually surrounded by a big waffle, and the taste is something you’ll have to try for yourself to believe. Get on over to Dixie Road and try Wow Wow Yum Yum.
Port 1 Cafe & Gelateria
Port 1 Cafe & Gelateria is another shop located in Port Credit but this one specializes in, you guessed it, gelato!
A fairly small store but one that is quiet and very relaxed inside, Port 1 offers a variety of explosive flavours, which I will simply list to get your mouth watering:
Tiramisu, Vanilla, Dark Chocolate, Chocolate Hazelnut, Hazelnut, Cream Caramel, Rum & Raisin, Salty Peanut, Pistacchio, Ferrero Rocher , Strawberry Yogurt, Blueberry Yogurt, Pina Colada, Banana, Mint
Need I say more? Sure, one more thing, they also serve real fruit smoothies, hot food, free wi-fi, and art from local creators! Done.
Marble Slab Creamery
The final shop on our list is in the Heartland Town Centre, and it’s really special!
The Marble Slab Creamery offers over 50 flavours of ice cream, including birthday cake, apple ‘n’ spice, cheesecake, eggnog, green tea, pumpkin cheesecake, tiger, and Magical Marble Unicorn. I’m not even sure what some of those things are but I want them.
They also offer milkshakes, smoothies, shortcake, sundaes, floats, ice cream cake, ice cream pie, and ice cream sandwiches. If it’s exotic flavours and a crazy amount of options you’re after, you’ll want to try Marble Slab Creamery!
