Unless you’re from a certain part of the world or a part of a particular religion, you may not be familiar with Diwali. It’s a four to five day festival of lights that is celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, and Buddhists every autumn season. It’s a beautiful time of year that celebrates the triumph of good over evil, and we’re excited to tell you about a special event that is joining in the fun.

Square One Mall in the city centre is hosting a Diwali Market from Thursday October 17th to Sunday October 20th. The Market will run from 10 AM when the mall opens until it closes, although it finishes at 7 PM on the final day. Here’s a little more about the festival from Square One’s official website:

Join us from Thursday, October 17 to Sunday, October 20, 2019  on Level 2, across H&M as we celebrate the Festival of Lights with the first-ever Diwali Market at Square One presented by Culture Market Co. #DiwaliMarketSQ1

Featuring the best food, fashion, music, and entertainment the GTA’s South Asian business community has to offer, get ready to immerse yourself in the colourful sights, beautiful sounds, and tasty treats the Diwali season brings.

Square One usually celebrates the Diwali Festival with a big get-together every year. At last year’s big event, Mayor Hazel McCallion attended in a traditional Indian gown and partied long into the night. It’s a great way to celebrate a few of the minority cultures that help make Mississauga great.

So if you’re free next weekend, and willing to learn something new, you should come to Square One Mall to experience a festival like no other. The Diwali Market is a blow-out of food, music, fashion, and entertainment, and we’re big fans of all those things. Feel free to wear something special and we’ll see you there!
