It’s that time of year again when CIBC gives back to the community and supports a very worthwhile cause. CIBC’s annual Run for the Cure returns this Sunday, September 30th.

CIBC conducts the Run for the Cure event across Canada, with 56 different cities taking part. Since 1992, the event has raised over $430 million for breast cancer research, and the mortality rate of breast cancer has fallen 42% since the 1980’s! Those are just a few stats from the CIBC website, which conveys the importance of the charity event, and proves why it’s an event that is well worth your time and energy.

Last year, over 85,000 people took part in the various races across Canada, and let’s keep those numbers rising this year!

Mississauga’s The Running Room acts as the t-shirt pick-up point for Run for the Cure, which can be found at 55 Square One Drive. While the race itself kicks-off at the University of Toronto, Mississauga Campus (3359 Mississauga Road North). The opening ceremony for this year’s run takes place at 9:10 AM, and then the races begin at 10 AM.

If you’d like to take part, head to this link to register as a team, join a new team, or run as an individual. Of course, it’s not an actual race, so you can sprint, jog, walk, or roll your way to the finish line. There are also two different distances available to register for, both 1KM and 5KM.

There are dozens of teams who register for the event and raise thousands in donations. The first three teams to raise $10,000 gets a complimentary tent and supplies at the starting line! So there’s an added incentive to make your team the very best in the city!

Come to Mississauga’s UofT Campus on September 30th and join CIBC’s Run for the Cure. It’s an incredible event and there’s no better way to spend a Sunday!
