Church Community Volunteers Celebrates 51 Years of Service. You’ve likely never heard of Church Community Volunteers (CCV), but 2019 marks our 51st year of service in the Clarkson-Lorne Park community. CCV is a registered charity that provides drives to and from medical appointments, and supports health and fitness activities for residents of Sheridan Villa to help them stay engaged with life as they navigate the challenges of old age or diminished health.
CCV’s History & Heritage in the Clarkson-Lorne Park Community
In 1968, the Outreach Division of Christ Church United (now Christ First) identified a number of social needs in our rapidly growing community, and proposed an organization of volunteers to address them. Representatives from Clarkson Road Presbyterian, St.
Bride’s Anglican, and St. Christopher’s Roman Catholic Churches quickly joined the project, and CCV was born. As word of our meaningful and highly valued services spread throughout the community, Church Community Volunteers grew to include St. Stephen’s On-The-Hill United, Lorne Park Baptist, Sheridan United and, until it’s closure, St. Paul’s Anglican.
Today, CCV volunteers provide safe, secure transportation to and from medical appointments, regardless of a recipient’s age. We also support fun and engaging fitness programs at Sheridan Villa. And we offer these services free of charge! We provide transportation to area residents bounded by Winston Churchill Blvd to Mississauga Road and south from the QEW to the lake. While the origin of CCV has its roots in the church community, our services are open to all who need them, or to anyone who would like to volunteer their time.
Support Your Community in a Meaningful Way
The hours devoted by our generous volunteers over the past 51 years are immeasurable, as are the benefits provided to so many of our friends and neighbours in the Clarkson-Lorne Park community. If you’re looking for a more purposeful way to spend your free time, to provide meaningful and valuable services to those in need, or a great way to stay connected to your community, CCV may be the answer.
We are actively seeking volunteers for our programs, including driving, telephone reception and fun and fitness at Sheridan Villa. If you are interested in using our services or in volunteering, simply call our office at 905-822-3377, message Church Community Volunteers – CCV Inc. on Facebook, or email email@example.com and one of our CCV program coordinators will reach out to you. We look forward to hearing from you!
