Is it just me or is it hot in here? Of course not, unless you’ve been living in a cave, you’ll certainly have noticed the +30 degree weather we’ve been having recently. And, if you’re like me, you’ll be trying to make the most of the fantastic weather, even though it feels like it might kill you.
Well, good news! A new park has officially opened in Mississauga and it is a perfect destination for you to spend some quality time with family, have a romantic walk with a significant other, or clear your head alone, maybe even read a book. The park is called the Hancock Woodlands, and it’s located right by Camilla Road and the Queensway.
The Hancock Woodlands has been under construction for almost a decade, so it’s with great pleasure that we bring you the news that it is finally open for everyone! It’s a good size park, just under 7 acres, and boasts plenty of trees and wildlife, more akin to a natural forest than the likes of J.C Saddington Park or Richard’s Memorial Park.
The Hancock Woodlands also offers a children’s playground, a tree garden, pathway loops, urban orchard, shelter for the rain – although right now it would be for the heat – and beautiful flower displays. The park was built by Mississauga lineage, the Hancock Family, in conjunction with the Riverwood Conservancy.
Mississauga is expanding at an incredibly rate, with stores opening at an unprecedented rate, so it’s good to see that nature isn’t being completely left behind in the expansion. The Hancock Woodlands is officially open and it is one of Mississauga’s best parks. If you’re looking for a beautiful new space to spend an afternoon and reconnect with nature, Hancock Woodlands is perfect.
